EvoQuip and their dealer Molson made a big statement against market competitors at a joint event. New machine launches, upclose demos and head-to-head machine comparisons all left business owners entertained at the All About Evoquip day, held at HD Ricketts’ quarry in Sutton Coldfield.
Alongside the sunshine, the practical demonstrations of three EvoQuip machines drew a large number of visitors from across the UK. They got upclose access to a Colt 1000 scalping screen, the Bison 220R, a new model to the UK market, and the Cobra 290R, which was in a head-to-head test against competitor Rubblemaster RM100 GO.
Cobra and RM100 go head to head
To mythbust the productivity claims of these two market rivals, a comparison test was run at the event between the Cobra 290R and the Rubblemaster RM100 GO.
The two machines were used models, of comparable age and operating hours. Both were fitted with new blow bars and new 13mm afterscreen meshes. They were also set up by their respective dealers to process blended Recycled Asphalt Pavement (RAP) to a -13 spec.
Fed with identical feedstock at a consistent rate by the same machine, their throughput was measured over fixed time intervals, with the finished product falling directly into the bucket of a loading shovel fitted with a fully calibrated weigh loader. Five tests were run from which an average tonne per hour rate was calculated.
The results found that the Cobra delivered 11.74% more throughput compared to the Rubblemaster.
Andrew Armstrong, Product Manager for EvoQuip said, “In fairness to Rubblemaster they’re the market leader in the UK for RAP compact crushing products. We want to lean into that market and from a product perspective we’re pretty confident that we’re as good if not better. The head to head is designed to prove that in front of the customers visiting today.”
As well as processing RAP, the Cobra 290R can handle demanding applications such as reinforced concrete, C&D waste, and natural rock. With the reputable Terex design, the 3.3m2 hopper capacity, integrated fines pre-screen and autoregulating feeder speed helps process material efficiently. Directly driven by a Volvo engine, the impact crusher is also fitted with hydraulic adjust and overload controls as standard.
The afterscreen system helps operators achieve tight product specifications, while oversized materials can be recirculated or stockpiled. Plus, with multiple conveyor options, teams can easily configure their setup to any site or need.
Andrew said, “At EvoQuip we pride ourselves on versatility. With this machine, this means the flexibility to get a 10mm down RAP or a 63mm down limestone or a 40mm down concrete. The 290R’s larger Terex chamber, adjustable aprons, variable tip speeds and motor speeds gives it the versatility to meet a range of applications.”
Bison 220R launches in the UK
The primary jaw crusher Bison 220R was also seen in action as part of its UK launch. Quickly gaining a reputation for its high-performance design, the machine is suitable for quarrying, demolition and recycling applications, with an output potential of 180tph.
The combined hopper-feeder has a 2.6m3 capacity. Made from 10mm thick wear-resistant steel, its asymmetric design aids material flow. The hydrostatic drive also contributes to this high throughput by allowing operators to run the machine in reverse. This keeps material moving through efficiently, and means any blockages can be cleared within three minutes.
Achieving an accurate output material size is also possible thanks to a closed side setting (CSS) down to 25mm. The machine’s afterscreen system, which is a 8′ x 4′ single deck, can be adjusted to a 25o angle. This means type one sized aggregate material can be achieved in a single pass, with any oversized materials bring recirculated within the machine.
Combined with quick setup times, intuitive controls and ground-level maintenance points, the Bison 220R makes it easy for operators to process heavy-duty material on any site.
Andrew said, “This machine lends itself to contractors who want to do multiple applications and move it around to different sites. It’s size means they can fit onto small sites easily and get the job done. The fact that you can output type one sized aggregate in one pass without multiple pieces of equipment is also a big plus for UK operators.
“Customers here today have been surprised by how efficient this machine is for its size. So much so that we’ve sold one of them today.”
Colt 1000 packs a punch
The final machine on display at the event was the heavy-duty Colt 1000 scalping screen, which was processing C&D material in train with the Bison 220R. Built for precision screening with the most difficult materials, the screeners’ compact footprint also offers versatility and mobility.
Only 2.5m wide and well under 30 tonnes in weight, it can be transported without a movement order in the UK. With no Adblue needed to run its 55kW Cat engine and aggressive screen box, operation and setup are more straightforward.
The Colt 1000 also has configurable conveyor options and a two way split conversion, combining flexible operations with precise material output. The added bonuses of quick set up times and tall discharge heights mean the screener can adapt to any site or application.
Andrew explains, “The Colt punches above its size in terms of performance. It’s ideal for businesses or contractors looking for a machine that’s mobile and can deal with different applications easily. It’s also helpful for businesses looking to cut down muckaway costs or make their material movement processes more carbon efficient.”
A powerful partnership
This joint event showcased the strong relationship between EvoQuip and Molson. With the manufacturer celebrating a decade in business this year, the day fired the starting gun for further growth. It also showcased how this partnership serves UK businesses with the best equipment, parts and aftersales support.
Andrew said, “We’re really happy to be with Molson, they give us massive support not just with events like today but with the quality service they give our customers across the UK. A huge thanks to their team and HD Ricketts for their hard work hosting us today. We’re really excited for the future.”
