Breedon, a leading construction\nmaterials group in Great Britain and Ireland, has just taken\ndelivery of new Terex Finlay crushers and screeners and washing equipment from\nGlasgow-based Finlay Scotland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The machines, delivered throughout Q1 of 2019, have\nbeen deployed to sites across Breedon\u2019s Northern region, increasing\nproduction and generating greater working efficiencies thanks to the\ncutting-edge technology available in the Terex Finlay machines manufactured\nin Omagh & Dungannon, Northern Ireland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Breedon are highly regarded in the industry,\nwith fast-paced growth over the last decade propelling them\nto become a key supplier of construction materials and\ncontracting services to many companies throughout Great Britain\nand Ireland. This growth has come from strong organic performance combined\nwith strategic and bolt-on acquisitions. Recent\nnotable purchases include Hope Construction Materials in 2016 and the\n\u00a3455m acquisition of Lagan Group, a materials supplier based in Ireland,\nin 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Breedon Group currently operates more\nthan 80 quarries in Great Britain and Ireland and also features\na diverse portfolio including two cement plants, 40 asphalt\nplants, around 170 ready-mixed concrete plants, nine concrete\nand clay products plants, four contract surfacing\nbusinesses, six import\/export terminals and two slate\nproduction facilities,  with nearly 900 million tonnes of\nmineral reserves and resources at its disposal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new Terex Finlay screeners and crushers are the\nlatest additions in a long line of Terex Finlay equipment supplied by Finlay\nScotland to the Northern region of\nthe Breedon Group over many years. This order includes a\nreal spread of products, from J-1480\u2019s \u2013 the largest jaw crusher in the Terex\nFinlay range \u2013 through C-1550 cone crushers, 694+ Washing & Dry\nalong with the 693+ 683 inclined screeners and the 883+ scalping heavy duty\nscreeners and TC-80 tracked conveyors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alan Mackenzie \u2013 Managing\nDirector, Breedon Northern, said, \u201cWe have built a long-standing\nrelationship with the team at Finlay Scotland, as they have been an\nexcellent supplier for us over the years. They have always provided us with a\nhigh-quality range of products and been there to back them up when\nneeded. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe nature of our business creates an extremely\ndemanding environment for all our machinery, none more so than the\nproduction equipment such as crushers and screeners. But I feel that the Finlay\nScotland team are working with us to help us achieve our goals, something any\nbusiness needs from their supplier base to become truly successful.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These latest machines all include the Terex Finlay\nT-Link telematics system, allowing the team at Breedon to remotely\naccess each machine and monitor both live and historic performance data. This\nallows the team to analyse the performance of each machine, so they can\nidentify potential improvements, calculate wear rates and keep on top of how\ntheir cost of production is tracking \u2013 all essential knowledge in an industry\nwhere costs are increasing and protection of margins is a\npriority. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alan went on to say, \u201cThe Terex Finlay products\nhave always served us very well. From a business point of view, we have to\nevaluate many angles when looking at purchasing new machinery. The initial cost\nis certainly a factor, but I would argue that it is not the be-all and end-all.\nWe also look at production capacity, versatility, reliability, whole-life cost\nof ownership, level of after-sales service from the dealer and finally the\nresidual value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTerex Finlay machines have always offered great\nall-round performance. We have a team on the ground that has bought into the\nbrand, thanks to the service and support provided over the years, not\nonly by Finlay Scotland, but  the guys at the Terex Finlay\nfactory too.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Terex Finlay J-1480 stands as the largest jaw\ncrusher in the extensive Finlay range, weighing in at a colossal 76,000Kg when\nfitted with the optional by-pass conveyor and magnet options. It is fitted with\na single toggle jaw which boasts a throughput capacity of up to 750\ntonnes per hour depending on application and material \u2013 making this is the\nprimary jaw crusher of choice for many large quarrying applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tom McNeil – Finlay Scotland Managing\nDirector, said, \u201cWe know what the customer is looking for \u2013 if a plant is\ndown, they need it fixed there and then and this is what we aim for with\nall our customers. Breedon are a forward-thinking company that have a\nkeen interest in any new developments in technology that could help them improve\ntheir ways of working \u2013 something we are always investigating both with our\nmanufacturer partners and in the wider market.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finlay Scotland were themselves recently acquired\nby Molson Group in March 2019, in a deal that when paired with the acquisition\nof Finlay Group in June 2018, completed the distribution rights for Terex\nFinlay equipment across Great Britain for Molson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tom went on to say; \u201cFollowing the acquisition by\nMolson Group, Finlay Scotland remains the same dynamic business that it has\nalways been, but thanks to the influence of Molson Group, and particularly\nMolson Finlay, we have access to a much greater amount of new machine stock,\nspare parts and technical expertise and network locations. I believe this puts\nus in much stronger position to not only offer customers new machines at\nshorter notice, but also to help us keep their machines running much\nmore cost effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
